Except, GOD

​
​I shouldn’t be here.
​
​So many times I should have died or been seriously injured or paralyzed, except, God.

I could have been trapped in an abusive relationship, except, God.

I could have gone down the path of drugs, sex, crime…except, God.

Except God protected me. God redirected me. God saved me.

So many bad things could have happened to me.

I put myself in so many possible horrible situations, except God did not let it be.

He saved me. He saved you.

The unimaginable could have happened, except, God.

If you accept God.

Mark 10:18: “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone".

Except, God– if you accept God.

No one is good. Mark 10:18 says it clearly.

​That means me and that means you.

No one is good, except God.

You might have caught the green light,

only to meet fate in a twisted frame of steel, except God protects you.

You could have faced the pink slip,

empty cupboards echoing hunger’s cry, except God makes a way.

You might have met a closed door,

dreams deferred by a single letter or email, except God opens another.

Your body could suffer affliction,

a shadow darkening  every breath,

except God speaks healing.

And when the soul is sentenced,

you could face an eternity in hell,

except God steps in with mercy.

Life is not perfect, but God is. Life is not without suffering, but unless you lose your child by torture and death on a cross, you will not know suffering like God knows suffering. And still, God loves sinners, murderers, prostitutes, liars, thieves, abusers... God even loves those who killed his only Son, when no one else could love them, except God.
