The I.M.P.A.C.T. Program
I.M.P.A.C.T. stands for Intentional Moments Prayer And Care Team.
This program is rooted in something beautifully simple:
Presence.
Compassion.
Prayer.
Connection.
Through I.M.P.A.C.T., volunteers visit hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, memory care facilities, and individuals who simply need someone to sit with them and pray.
Sometimes people do not need a solution. They need companionship. They need encouragement. They need to know they are not forgotten.
For five minutes.
Ten minutes.
A simple conversation.
A prayer.
A reminder that they are loved.
As a Christian, my faith has sustained me through some of the most difficult seasons of my life. I know what it feels like to sit in uncertainty. I know what it feels like to need hope. And I know how powerful it can be when someone simply shows up.
That is what I.M.P.A.C.T. is about.
Showing up.
Listening.
Praying.
Caring.
Serving.
At ImpactIndiana.org, we believe that healing and growth happen through relationships.
We believe education changes lives.
We believe mentorship matters.
We believe faith can provide hope.
And we believe every person has value and purpose.
Whether you're a student, parent, teacher, community member, volunteer, donor, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, I invite you to join us.
Together, we can help people move beyond adversity and toward opportunity.
Together, we can help individuals discover their strengths, their purpose, and their potential.
Together, we can make anIMPACT.
Please remember: You are not defined by what has happened to you.
You are empowered by your resilience, your faith, and your capacity to grow.
God bless,
Dr. Greer

Why I.M.P.A.C.T. is Research-Informed
I.M.P.A.C.T. (Intentional Moments Prayer and Care Team) is built upon growing research demonstrating the positive effects of prayer, compassionate presence, social connection, and emotional support on human well-being.
A 2026 randomized controlled trial conducted by researchers at the University of Maryland School of Medicine found that just five minutes of in-person intercessory prayer delivered by trained volunteers significantly reduced pain and anxiety among primary care patients when compared to a music control group. Participants who received prayer experienced immediate improvements in anxiety and pain, with reductions in anxiety persisting for up to six weeks. Researchers concluded that prayer was safe, well-received, and may serve as a low-cost, non-pharmacological complement to traditional care.
Beyond prayer itself, decades of research have shown that social connection, compassionate presence, and supportive relationships are powerful protective factors that contribute to emotional well-being, resilience, and quality of life. I.M.P.A.C.T. recognizes that many individuals in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, memory care facilities, and home settings experience loneliness, uncertainty, grief, or isolation. Sometimes what people need most is not a solution, but a caring person willing to listen, sit beside them, offer encouragement, and remind them that they are valued and not forgotten.
Through brief visits centered on presence, compassion, prayer, and connection, I.M.P.A.C.T. seeks to provide hope, comfort, and human connection to those who may need it most.
