Dr. Jamie Sue Greer

Educational Advocate & Learning Coach
(Virtual | 1:1 Student Support | Systems Navigation | Equity-Focused)

About My Role

As an Educational Advocate and Learning Coach, I partner with students, families, and educational institutions to remove barriers to learning, strengthen student agency, and ensure equitable access to meaningful educational opportunities.

My work sits at the intersection of learning science, coaching, and educational advocacy. I focus not only on what students are learning, but also on how they learn, how they are treated within systems, and how they can effectively advocate for themselves within those systems.

I serve as a bridge between students, families, and schools, clarifying expectations, facilitating communication, and empowering students to navigate academic environments with confidence, clarity, and competence.

Who We Serve
Our
team of tutors and educators works with:
  • K–12 students and families
  • College and graduate students
  • First-generation and underrepresented learners
  • Neurodiverse learners
  • Students navigating academic, behavioral, or systemic challenges
  • Families seeking clarity around school policies, accommodations, or student rights
  • Schools or organizations seeking support in student success, equity, and learning strategy
All services are available 100% virtually, allowing flexibility, accessibility, and continuity of support.

Core Responsibilities
1. Educational Advocacy (Rights, Access, and Systems Navigation)
I support students and families by:
  • Helping families understand school policies, procedures, and student rights
  • Assisting in preparation for meetings with schools (IEP, 504, academic planning conversations)
  • Clarifying educational jargon and translating it into clear, actionable language
  • Supporting constructive communication between families and schools
  • Identifying systemic barriers to student success and recommending pathways forward
  • Promoting equity, fairness, and inclusion in educational decision-making
I do not provide legal representation or clinical services; my role is educational, consultative, and advocacy-focused.

2. Learning Coach
(How Students Learn)

My work as a Learning Coach focuses on building sustainable learning capacity, including:
  • Metacognition (“learning how to learn”)
  • Study strategies and cognitive load management
  • Time management, planning, and task initiation
  • Motivation, persistence, and academic volition
  • Self-regulation and reflective learning habits
  • Executive function skills (organization, prioritization, follow-through)
  • Academic confidence, voice, and self-advocacy
This work is particularly beneficial for students who:
  • Struggle with motivation or overwhelm
  • Have strong ability but inconsistent performance
  • Are transitioning between school levels
  • Experience stress or academic setbacks
  • Need support navigating online or hybrid learning

3. Trauma-Informed Educational Support
(Non-Clinical)

I take a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach to learning by:
  • Recognizing how stress and past experiences can impact learning
  • Helping students develop practical, school-appropriate regulation strategies
  • Supporting students through academic transitions or disruptions
  • Creating a safe, structured, and respectful coaching environment
This is not therapy or counseling; it is educational coaching grounded in learning science and student well-being.

My Approach
My work is guided by evidence-based learning science, including:
  • Motivation and Personal Investment Theory
  • Metacognitive strategy instruction
  • Neuroscience-informed learning principles
  • Equity-centered educational practice
  • Reflective and strengths-based coaching methods
I believe that when students understand how they learn, they gain agency, confidence, and resilience that extend far beyond any single class or grade.

Credentials & Experience
  • Doctor of Education (EdD) in Learning & Organizational Change
  • 25+ years of experience in secondary and postsecondary education
  • Expertise in learning science, motivation, and student success
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and advocating for students across diverse educational settings
